"Khari Mateen is a man of many talents so when the Grammy nominated singer/song writer/producer dropped his new track “Wanting More” I was ready to be impressed.
My initial thought of the song was: well, it’s an instrumental with a repeating hook – what’s so special about that? But upon listening to it once or twice more, I realized that this song is much more than a first listen might give you. It gives me that feeling that you get when you first meet someone new and there is a spark there. It makes me think of how exciting those first few encounters are because that person is still so mysterious and intriguing to you.
The hook – “I just want to get you all alone/ maybe we can get to know each other better baby/ I just want to get you all alone/ you keep me wanting more” – says everything that needs to be said about what that experience feels like, and I really dig the simplicity of that. Sometimes artists get so caught up in trying to elude to different messages in their music but with “Wanting More” Khari just gives it to you straight up and I appreciate that."
